Christ the King – Machico – Eastern point of Madeira.
Visiting the Monument of Christ the King in Garajau. Then to the friendly village of Santa Cruz; Machico the 2nd town where the Portuguese Navigators first landed in 1419; Caniçal the fishing village where in old times the fishing of the whale was the main activity (did you know that scenes of the film Mobydick were shot in the Atlantic in front of this village) and Ponta de São Lourenço the east end of the island, a contrast in the scenery with fantastic views over the Atlantic ocean and the island of Porto Santo (weather permitting).
