Silves – known to the Arabs as Xelb, was a flourishing trade centre when it became the Moorish capital of Algarve. On the top of the hill is the gigantic Moorish castle and the 13th century cathedral built by the Christians on the ruins of a mosque.
Monchique – a typical village in the mountains covered with exotic and unusual mixture of magnolia, eucalyptus, pine, chestnut, cork oak and strawberry trees.
Lagos – the city of the Portuguese discoveries (15th/16th centuries), with the first slave market in Europe, the statue of Henry, the Navigator and the golden church of Saint Anthony. Proceed to CAPE ST. VINCENT, the south-westernmost point in Europe, having one of the most powerful lighthouse.
Baleeira – an important fishing harbour. View of the 15th century fortress of SAGRES, related to the life of Prince Henry, the navigator.
