In the afternoon, you will see the sunset from the best spot in northern Chile: the Moon valley in the Salt Mountains. Capricious clay and salt structures created millions of years ago by mineral deposits turn into a lunar landscape at dusk. Accommodation.
Breakfast at hotel. Full-day excursion to the high Andean plateau, the Miscanti and Meñiques highland Lagoons and the Atacama salt bed, in Los Flamencos National Park. The reserve’s diverse avian fauna creates a landscape filled with contrasting shapes and colors. The traditional towns of Toconao and Socaire will also be visited. Passengers depart before dawn to explore the Tatio Geyser, a geothermal field located at an altitude of 4,300 meters above sea level in the Andes Mountains. There, steam clouds that reach up to 50 meters in height combine with the stunning beauty of the Andes. Breakfast is served at the geysers. The return trip passes through a moving landscape of mountains and volcanoes above 5,500 meters, with a view to the stunning avian fauna that inhabits the small rivers that flow into the great Atacama salt bed. Return to San Pedro is scheduled at around noon. Accommodation.
Transfer from the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama to the Hito Cajón border pass. Trip from Hito Cajón to Green Lakeon, on the slopes of the Llicancabur volcano, passing through the Dalí Valley and Chalviri hot springs. The trip continues to the Morning Sun geysers, renowned for the spectacular colors of its boiling sludge. The tour then goes to Red Lakeon for an exploration of the surroundings and a view of the resident colony of James’s flamingoes, a native species. Passengers will also see the how the Lakeon takes on the red hue it’s named for. Arrival to the Siloli desert for a visit to the Stone Tree rock formation. Return to hotel. Lunch, dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast at hotel. Trip north to the Ramaditas, Honda, Hedionda, Cachi, etc. highland Lagoons. Entry to the Great Uyuni Salt Flat for a tour of Incahuasi Island (known as Fish Island) and its giant cacti. After lunch in the middle of the salt bed, passengers will visit the Ojos de Agua and other salt extraction sites. Transfer to hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
